If you have a bun in the oven, you are likely scouring the internet in search of THE perfect name. A lot goes into this, and it’s often one of the first major decisions you have to make. You want pick something you love, but you also have to think about the long-term outcomes. 

For example — you want to avoid potentially embarrassing initials, and consider how nicknames or first initials might sound when paired with the last name. You want something unique, so that your child isn’t one of three in their class, but you also don’t want them to spend their life correcting the spelling or pronunciation of the name you so carefully selected. 

So how do you pick the right name for your baby?

Lucas, Kylo, Liam, Rey and Leia have all experienced exponential growth this past year, with Liam earning the top position for 2016. Any idea where the names all come from? You guessed it - Star Wars!

Romantic, elegant and easy-to-pronounce names for our darling daughters have continued to be a trend over the last several years. The most popular ones now are  Amelia, Olivia, Gabriella, Arriana, Camila, Grace, Abigail, and Emily. Let’s not forget the boys here, who continue to come in strong with classic names like Ethan, Jack and Ian continuing to grow. 

Gender neutrality has been trending across multiple areas, from nursery decor to children’s attire. The name space is no different, and there’s a major emergence of gender neutral names being used this year.  For girls, we’re seeing Addison, Brooklyn, Peyton, and Sydney. For the boys, it’s Cameron, Blake, Parker, and Ryder.

And, just for fun, some popular names with our customers are: Anya, Nelly, Hatley, Everly, Evelyn, Isla, Carter, and Hunter.
